Woven Fiberglass Tape for Industrial Lagging

BSTFLEX woven fiberglass insulation tape is a narrow textile made from texturized glass fiber yarn. It is supplied for industrial pipe lagging, equipment joint insulation and protective wrapping. The flexible strip can follow accessible pipework and be cut to the lengths needed for equipment assembly or maintenance.

Specify the tape around the installation: the surface being insulated, available clearance, heat exposure and method of fixing. For a pipe wrap, width and overlap determine coverage. For a flat equipment joint, the contact area and installed thickness are the starting points.

Standard Sizes and Supply Options

The standard range is white fiberglass tape with a nominal thickness of 1.5 mm. The sizes below are supplied in 30 m rolls. Other widths, thicknesses, lengths and packaging can be requested for quotation.

An adhesive-backed version can also be requested. State the backing requirement when ordering; the adhesive type and its service conditions must be considered separately from the fiberglass textile. Minimum order quantity is confirmed with the selected specification.

Industrial Applications

Pipe lagging and local insulation

Fiberglass lagging tape provides a strip-format option for wrapping industrial pipes and narrow sections of equipment. Describe the pipe diameter, length to be covered and surrounding space so that tape width and layer build-up can be selected together. Do not assume a single wrap replaces the full insulation system specified for the installation.

Equipment joints and thermal seals

For oven, boiler and other equipment joints designed to accept a textile strip, provide the joint drawing, contact width and required installed thickness. The tape should be selected as part of the joint design; it is not a pressure-retaining pipe repair or a substitute for a specified pressure gasket.

Industrial hose and cable wrapping

Where industrial hoses or cables require an external thermal wrap, identify the heat source, component temperature limit and access for installation. Include vibration, movement and maintenance requirements in the enquiry. Wrapping does not increase the original temperature rating of the hose or cable itself.

Installation and Specification Notes

For spiral wrapping, plan the overlap and number of layers before calculating material quantity. Keep coverage consistent around bends and transitions, and secure the ends with fixings suitable for the equipment and operating temperature. Fixings must not cut into or damage the underlying component.

Provide both normal operating conditions and short-duration temperature peaks. Include direct surface contact, surrounding hot air, radiant heat and any exposure to moisture or process chemicals. Request the applicable service data for the selected tape construction when a project has defined temperature or testing requirements.

Choosing the Right Fiberglass Tape Construction

Is woven fiberglass tape the same as ladder tape?

No. Woven tape provides a continuous strip, while fiberglass ladder tape has an open center section for fixing bolts. Choose the construction around the joint and fastening arrangement rather than treating the two forms as interchangeable.

When should a knitted gasket tape be considered?

For a sealing joint where conformability and compression are important, compare the woven construction with knitted fiberglass gasket tape . Evaluate the fit in the actual joint, including its closure force and installed thickness, before specifying a replacement.

Does an adhesive backing change the service requirements?

Yes. A backing adhesive introduces a separate limit for bonding and installation. Identify whether it is needed only to position the tape or to maintain a bond during service. A fiberglass temperature rating should not be used as the adhesive's rating.
