BSTFLEX removable flange insulation covers are custom-fabricated around the flange diameter, pipe size, bolt projection and available installation space. The reusable multi-layer construction helps control heat loss and exposed surface temperature while allowing the flange joint to be opened for inspection or maintenance without destroying the insulation.
order(moq):
1A removable flange insulation cover is a custom-made thermal jacket designed for bolted flange connections in industrial piping systems. It closes the insulation gap around the flange body, bolts and adjoining pipe insulation while preserving access to the joint for inspection, tightening, maintenance or replacement.
BSTFLEX manufactures each flange cover around the actual equipment dimensions rather than a standard stock shape. Customers can send a drawing, measurement sheet, photographs or a physical sample. The cover geometry, insulation thickness, fabric system and fastening arrangement are then selected according to operating temperature, service environment and maintenance requirements.
Flange connections are frequently left exposed because rigid insulation is difficult to remove and reinstall around bolts and irregular profiles. An uncovered hot flange can become a concentrated source of heat loss and create a hot surface close to operators, cables or nearby equipment.
A properly fitted removable insulation cover provides thermal coverage without permanently sealing the joint. When maintenance is required, the fasteners can be released and the complete cover removed. After the work is finished, the same cover can normally be installed again, avoiding repeated cutting and replacement of conventional insulation.
The outside diameter alone is not enough to manufacture a reliable flange cover. Bolt length, pipe insulation thickness, flange width, adjacent fittings and installation clearance can all affect the finished pattern. BSTFLEX reviews the complete assembly before confirming the construction.
The cover may be manufactured as a one-piece wraparound jacket or as a divided construction when access is limited. Openings, overlaps, reinforced edges and local cut-outs can be incorporated for supports, drains, instruments or nearby piping. Identification labels can also be added when a plant uses many similar covers.
| Cover Section | Available Material Options | Selection Considerations |
|---|---|---|
| Outer cover | Silicone coated fiberglass, PTFE coated fiberglass, aluminized fiberglass or other heat-resistant coated fabrics | Weather, oil, moisture, abrasion, radiant heat and cleaning conditions |
| Insulation core | Fiberglass needle mat, silica needle mat, ceramic fiber insulation or aerogel-based insulation | Operating temperature, required thickness, available clearance and thermal target |
| Hot-face liner | Fiberglass fabric, silica fabric, stainless steel foil or stainless steel mesh | Direct contact temperature, vibration, abrasion and process environment |
| Fastening system | D-rings and straps, stainless steel hooks and lacing wire, springs, buckles or other removable closures | Installation space, removal frequency, vibration and exposure temperature |
| Reinforcement | Stainless steel mesh, reinforced seams, edge protection, quilting pins or support hardware | Cover size, orientation, movement and mechanical loading |
Material temperature ratings cannot be applied to the finished cover without reviewing the complete assembly. The outer fabric, insulation core, liner, thread, fasteners and installation method must work together under the actual service conditions.
BSTFLEX can manufacture insulation covers for raised-face flanges, flat-face flanges, pipe unions and other bolted connections. Designs can be adapted to horizontal pipe runs, vertical piping, close-coupled valve assemblies and flanges positioned near walls, supports or other equipment.
Accurate project information helps avoid interference with bolts, supports and nearby equipment. For a new flange insulation cover, provide as many of the following details as possible:
For complex assemblies, a photograph with marked dimensions or a simple dimensional drawing is usually more useful than a flange size alone. BSTFLEX can also work from an approved sample when repeat orders require consistent fit.
The fastening method should match both the working temperature and the way maintenance teams handle the cover. D-rings with straps provide adjustable tension and are suitable for many general industrial applications. Stainless steel hooks, lacing wire and springs are available where higher temperature, vibration or frequent access requires an all-metal closure.
The pattern can include overlap flaps around the pipe openings to reduce exposed gaps. Reinforced pull tabs and clearly positioned closures can simplify removal while wearing industrial gloves. Where orientation matters, permanent labels can identify the equipment number, flow direction or installation position.
A flange insulation cover and a flange guard serve different purposes. The insulation cover is a multi-layer thermal product intended to reduce heat transfer and provide removable access. A flange guard or spray shield is primarily designed to help contain or indicate leakage from a pressurized flange connection.
One product should not automatically be treated as a substitute for the other. If a project requires both thermal insulation and leak protection, the design must be reviewed around the process media, pressure, drainage, inspection requirements and safety procedures.
BSTFLEX supports single prototypes, replacement covers and repeat OEM production. Covers can be manufactured from customer drawings, site measurements, photographs, templates or approved samples. For repeat programs, part numbers, identification labels and packaging requirements can be incorporated into the production specification.
Replacement projects should include information about the previous cover construction and the reason for replacement. Heat damage, chemical exposure, torn fasteners, poor fit or limited maintenance access may require a different material or pattern rather than a direct copy.
They are normally made to order because flange diameter, bolt projection, pipe insulation and installation clearance differ between systems. Standard flange data can be used as a starting point, but the installed assembly should be checked before production.
Yes. The product is designed to be opened and reinstalled during inspection or maintenance. Actual service life depends on temperature, handling, contamination, mechanical damage and whether the selected materials match the operating environment.
Yes, but a combined valve-and-flange jacket is not always the best arrangement. Separate covers can provide faster access to one component, while a combined cover may reduce seams and exposed gaps. BSTFLEX can review both options from the equipment drawing.
Yes. Outdoor designs can use weather-resistant outer fabrics, protected seams, drainage details and suitable closures. The finished cover should still be installed so water cannot collect inside the insulation system.
In industrial purchasing, these terms are often used for the same general type of flexible removable insulation. Flange insulation cover is the clearest product name because it identifies both the insulated component and the function of the product.
Yes. A usable sample can help confirm shape, closures and installation sequence. Any known fit problems or damaged areas should be identified so they are not repeated in the new cover.
Send the flange dimensions, operating temperature, quantity, photographs and available drawings to BSTFLEX. We will review the layer construction, fastening method, installation clearance and manufacturing approach for your application.
